Why am I doing this:
After finishing the Boston Marathon in 2013, I had sworn I was done running marathons. But during that race, I was surrounded by charity runners. The messages scrolled on their t-shirts brought tears to my eyes and encouraged me to move forward despite the fatigue, self-doubt and pain. After that race, I knew if I ever completed another marathon, it would be for a purpose much bigger than just myself. I want every pediatric patient in South Bend and the surrounding area to have access to the latest technology, expertise and care that they deserve. In memory of our dear friend Caitrin Gadomski who lost her short life to a rare cancer this past year, I am running to provide the best medical care to those who need it the most.
I am running the Chicago Marathon in memory of Caitrin Gadomski. If love and hope could cure cancer, she would have been with us forever.
